Summer Discovery

Registration

The registration deadline for June classes is the first Friday in June and for July classes is the third Friday in June. Most classes fill up quickly, so please register early. Class sizes are limited and registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students must choose a morning class and an afternoon class, or one that meets all day. We regret that we are unable to accept half-day registrations.

Confirmation of registration will be sent in early June. If a class is full, registrants will be notified by phone or e-mail of the wait-list status.

Please note that e-mail, fax and phone registrations will not be accepted.

Tuition and fees

  • The cost of the program is $205 per week and includes materials fees, transportation and all expenses associated with the program.
  • If paying with a check, a nonrefundable deposit of $40 per student must accompany registration. The deposit is credited toward the tuition of the last week of attendance in the program. Tuition is due on or before the first day of each week’s classes.
  • If paying by credit card, payments must be made in full at the time of registration ($40 is a nonrefundable deposit).
  • Registrations cannot be processed without a completed registration form and deposit.

Scholarships

A limited number of partial one-week scholarships are available. Please send a letter to the address on the registration form describing circumstances that would prevent you from paying your child’s tuition. The scholarship request deadline for 2008 is May 30.

Cancellation and refund policy

VCU Summer Discovery reserves the right to cancel a class if there is not sufficient enrollment. Registered participants will be contacted to select an alternate class. If no alternative is available or selected, a full refund will be given.

Refunds for Summer Discovery registration (less $40 deposit) will be given until one week prior to the beginning of the class. Refunds will not be given for part-time attendance or absences during the week.

All class change requests and registration cancellations must be made in writing — e-mail is acceptable — by the Friday before class starts.
